Fans of the Power Rangers Dino Fury series are in luck this summer, with the launch of a brand new saber – the all-new Dino Fury Chromafury Saber.
What’s unique about this Power Rangers dinosaur toy is that it can morph into any color, using a built-in scanner located on its hilt. So essentially, you scan an object; this data is then sent to the saber’s color-changing LEDs, changing them to match the scanned color. Pretty cool, right?

While this color-scanning technology works with all objects, Hasbro states that it’s better to scan flat objects for the best effects, as these are easier to correctly capture the color from, resulting in a more accurate color recreation.
As well as the toy’s ability to change color also features several sound effects. These include a chomping sound when the saber’s dino head is pressed and other sound effects and lights when the sword is swung, helping to make playtime more fun and interactive.

What’s cool about the sound effects is that there are a unique set for each of the standard Power Ranger colors, which are mapped to the saber’s color, with these effects changing with each color scan.
There are five sets of sound effects in total, one for red, green, blue, black, and pink – the obvious missing color is gold; however, the gold ranger hasn’t yet made it to the Dino Fury series, although they’re expected to join the line-up later.
The Dino Fury Chromafury Saber will release August 1st and will retail for around $30 in the US.
